IOP Pier allows for reported conditions to be felt in the general vicinity and stretch along the whole southern portion of the barrier islands north of the Charleston Harbor, of them being Sullivan's Island and Isle of Palms.
Please search Facebook group "Chucktown Wind Report" for daily updated conditions and/or general questions. Must be a member to participate. Free to join - just ask, no strings attached (no pun intended). Friendly discourse and experienced people to help answer questions about kite boarding logistics and general help.

 Season: Year Round - Predominantly S-SW direction in Spring/Summer months, and NE/ENE in colder months 
 Water: Ranges from 38-55 degrees in winter and up to 82-88 in the summer. 
 Ability Level: Beginner - Advanced...WEST direction advanced. NE/ENE intermediate - advanced. S/SW/WSW all levels. 
 Wetsuit: Generally as need basis. 3/2 -5/3 mm colder months, and shedding spring suits by April 
 Familiness: Relative to needs for lodging...great for kids and people of all ages. 
 Parking: Relatively easy to find...spotty in areas. 
 Launch: Station 28.5, Sullivan's Island and 3rd Street, Isle of Palms 

Updates every 5 minutes. Rideable directions: NE/ENE/E/SE/SSE/S/SSW/SW/WSW .....Directions hold well until wind moves offshore. Land shadowing effect from W/NW/NNW/N/NNE provides naturally occurring inaccurate readings.
