Kailua Overview
Classic side on shore spot for windsurfing and kitesurfing. Not quite as windy as Maui, on average, but paradise nonetheless. Average kite is 12m. Bigger kites are often necessary. Foil boards work great here! Local shops include Windward Watersports, Naish Hawaii and Hawaiian Watersports. ...Ask the locals before you go out. Here's a link to local non profit www.pwhawaii.org - working to keep kiting safe & legal. Kiting is always at risk of being banned from Kailua beach and just one accident away. . Please help preserve access by strictly adhering to the following guidelines. 1. No jumping or jibing within 200 feet of the shore line. 2. Absolutely no beach jumping or Hot launching 3. Do not leave kites on the beach. 4. Definitely no kiting in the designated swim zone. 5. No trespassing into private yards to retrieve loose kites. Ask permission if necessary and pay for tree service if needed. Local kiters & residents will not tolerate careless or unsafe behavior. 6. For a complete list of guidelines see both sides of the sign at kailua beach.

Sensor Notes
Wind is generally better early or late in the day and beach is less crowded. Easterly winds are sometimes stronger than sensor reports. Northerly winds are sometimes lighter and directly onshore making it very difficult to ride.
