Topanga Overview
The weather station is atop the Malibu Chart House Restaurant which offers a fantastic view (and fetch) of the coast. One thing the meter doesn't capture is the experience of watching an incredible sunset during a sumptuous meal -- definitely worth checking out...

Topanga offers light summer afternoon winds in the 15kt range for 6.5+ sailing. But for higher wind junkies the winter & spring bring stronger winds around 20kt making for 5.5 -6.5 sail range. You launch from a rocky beach with some sand in the cove. There is often a tough shore break. The downside for windsurfers is that surfers dominate the best break area add a tough shore break plus light wind and this becomes a strong intermediate to advance site. Booties are a good idea.
The day use fee is $5 but you may be able to park free if you can find a spot on along Hwy. 1. This site is crowded on weekends in summer. There is a good beach and restaurants but the area is crowded in the summer weekends .
