Leadbetter Beach Overview
Ledbetter offers a grassy park and the beach is nice and usually has small surf. The winds are usually light to moderate and the small waves are just perfect to develop your wave sailing skills. From the bluffs you have great views of the sailing action. The cliffs funnel Santa Barbara's notoriously light winds providing 12 to 18 knot sideshore winds. The kelp can be heavy so keep your eyes peeled. By June fog can blanket the coast. The water visibility is often great at Leadbetter but the sea grass is a hassle so a weed fin is sometimes useful. Spring and Fall Winter 3/2mm wetsuit will do the job. Water temperature in the Summer is 65-70 degrees, Spring & Fall 58-64 and Winter 54-57 Despite its beauty, Santa Barbara has one flaw from the perspective of the shortboard windsurfer. Point Conception to the north deflects the blustery northwesterlies of spring away from the city. Despite these flaws, Santa Barbara offers good sailing. There is a nice park with restrooms. For food there is Dees Beach Burger located in the middle of the beach. The parking is $3 and is crowded on weekends.

Sensor Notes
There are no calibrations for this site. Accuracy has to be good being so close to the ocean. Located on the Yacht Club downwind of the launch site about 200 yards and about 30 feet above water and less than 100 feet from the water's edge. Obstructions are non-existent from 330 degrees with some for any offshore winds that may or may not affect the wind speeds.
