Sauvie Island pws Overview
Great sandy beach with ample rigging area and plenty of parking. Winds not nearly as strong as in the Gorge so Sauvies Island is a great place for learning. Pretty quiet wind most mornings, but a 8-15mph wind out of the west to the east develops most every afternoon between 3-6pm, which is opposite to the water current. The area is a wildlife preserve and requires a daily or seasonal parking permit - purchse them at the local grocery store immediately as you cross the bridge to get to the island, because not reliably sold closer to the sailing area.
