The conditions vary from large swells to flatwater depending on which side of the Point you sail and the current wind direction.

Excellent high wind alternative to Dewey Beach for the Washington/Annapolis area sailor.
Admission fee of $3 on weekends and holidays (May through September). Pay your fee at the booth by the little store. Also, keep in mind that available parking places after 9 a.m. during peak season weekends are hard to come by.
Camping and concessions available within the park.
Sea nettles (jellyfish) can be quite bad during part of the summer.

From DC, take Route 5 from the Beltway to Route 235. It will dump you back onto Route 5. Stay on Route 5 until the road ends. Route 2 from Annapolis also hits Route 5 (235 also) after crossing the bridge at Solomon's Island. Look for signs to Point Lookout State Park.

The sensor is located on a utility pole at the parking lot at the Point. Veteran Point Lookout sailors mention that southerly winds read a little low compared to what they find out on the water.
