Kite Island Overview
Barnegat Bay is a shallow body of clean water with most areas waist deep. Famous New Jersey warm southerly thermal winds blow on average 3-4 times per weeks in May, June and July. Kite Island is located in the middle of the widest part of Barnegat Bay (approximately 4 miles wide), so it can be sailed on any wind direction. Best winds are SSW, S, SW, SSE, SE. The beach is wide enough to handle 50 kiters and it never feels crowded. It offers the best conditions in the NYC area for learning to kiteboard. Green Hat Kiteboarding gives kiteboarding lessons on Kite Island. For more information, please visit their website at www.greenhatkiteboarding.com

Sensor Notes
The sensor is installed on a Nav Aid approximately one mile west of the island. SW, W and NW lull readings maybe slightly lower due to closer proximity to the mainland. The sensor still delivers more accurate wind readings than land based sensors (Trixies, Seaside Heights, etc.) in all wind directions.
Any wind direction. Best winds are SSW, S, SW, SSE, SE.
