In the off-season launch from the BI Club (or join) on Corn Neck Road, or Andy's Way (in-season too), just north of the Club. Sail in Great Salt Pond (GSP), or sail out through the cut and into BI Sound. The wind in the cut will be less than either outside GSP or in GSP. Good intermediate sailing most of the time. Sail Inside GSP when overpowering conditions are present. There can be lots of boats and moorings to avoid. If its N-W to N-E you can sail from the beaches by the Marinas on the southern side of GSP, but there are lots of boats from May to September.
You can launch off Coast Guard Beach too, just that there is a lot of sand and not a lot of parking. It's just as easy to sail out of the pond if there is enough wind.
In other wind directions, it will probably be the off-season so you can go almost anywhere and launch. Alternate areas include Scotch Beach in all wind conditions except NW (directly offshore).
Avoid North Point, strong currents of 5+ knots and wind shadows prevail, every couple of years it seams that a surf-casting fisherman gets swept off the point to his demise....

Shops, Schools, Clubs, Events, Food, Lodging, More,
Season: All, but winter can be really harsh
Water: Harbor gets murky when there are too many boats at anchor
Ability Level: In Great Salt Pond ~ Int., Outside advanced in higher winds.
Familiness: Lots of BI things to do
Parking: Varies, but its expensive to bring wheels so many daytrippers don't.
 Launch: Beach or Salt Pond

This discusion applies to BI in general. Take a boat, either Small (yours), or Large (public ferry) to BI; dock or moor, as you see fit. If you bring a car it will be easier to get around, but that will be $108.60 for an SUV and $17.40 each for the driver and passangers. Taxi's are plentiful. www.blockislandferry.com/ You can also fly into BID (BI State Airport). Once you get there, sail off Scotch beach, surfer beach or Mansion Beach, Black Rock, Coast Guard Beach, ect.

Seems to read high, probably due to a high placement(?), but all of BI gets good wind (it's an Island ~ right!). THIS IS ONE OF TWO METERS FOR BI ON IW. THE JETTY READS VERY HIGH. THE OTHER METER IS THE REALISTIC METER TO GO BY FOR YOUR WS SESH.
